Temporary passes are the most straightforward and quite easy to apply. These pass is known as one to five day pass. To obtain these passes, BAA authorities want you to complete Form 8 and the applicant who wishes to apply for the pass must present any of the acceptable types of ID when the pass is issued and produced.

In other airports in Scotland and Southampton, there is a different type of form used which is for one to five day pass. The part of the form becomes the paper pass which is worn by the escorted pass holder. In this case, the same conditions must be satisfied and an acceptable ID should be presented when the pass is issued and produced.

Escorting arrangements for the pass holders are all described in the signatories zone. There can be chances that there would be a second one to five day pass issued. There should be at least seven days gap between the expiry of one and the issue date of another. The total number of all the temporary passes inclusive of one to five day passes and thirty day passes must not exceed 60 days in a year.

Need a Permanent Pass?

You may need a permanent pass for many reasons which can be like temporary pharmacy cover, unplanned maintenance work or any other important work. There is no need for references for one to five day passes.

In a case when an applicant is carrying out work at the airport, a 30 day temporary pass can be considered to be appropriate. To obtain one of these passes, applicant has to provide reference for 1 year. In similarity to all applicants, BAA authorities look for an approved ID and if an applicant is working, they look for an evidence of the right to remain and work in UK.

At first only a 30 day temporary ID pass for every person is issued. In some of the exceptional circumstances, Airport Security Manager or their authorised representative can allow and authorise an applicant for a second 30 day temporary ID pass to work efficiently.

There is a period for which a combination of temporary ID passes at airport (one to five day and 30 day) is allowed for 60 days (max) in any of the 12 months.
