Heathrow Local Buses
Transportation from and to Heathrow has never been a problem to the passengers. However there are many companies that run their services from here but National Express run most of the coach services. If you reach at Terminal 1, 2 or 3 you will be able to locate the main bus stand which is between the three terminals and every terminal shows a sign heading to the bus station.
The service operators make you stop outside the terminals 1 and 3 arrivals level and terminal 2 departure levels. Terminal 4 is not in the list of these service providers whereas Terminal 5 has a good range of stops for this bus service.
Tickets
Before travelling or in the bus only you can purchase coach/bus tickets directly or at coach station information desks. The station is opened 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. Many parts of UK and most of the routes are run by National Express coach services. Local services to the west London is a part of the Transport for London network. Single side adult fare for any place in London is £2. You may also use prepaid Oyster cards for the transportation purpose for London network.
You can have coach services from Heathrow to Gatwick all the 24 hours. Coach services to other airports like Stansted & Luton are provided around 22 hours a day & they start from around 3 am. If you wish to go to Birmingham Airport, there is a direct service for the same.
Where to take your bus?
Central bus station of Heathrow is located between Terminals 1 & Terminal 3. The terminals are situated a few minutes away and can be reached with the help of underground walkways.
The baggage trolleys are available to life your things and there is a lift to the underground level as well. There is a limit to your luggage size while you are travelling. Luggage allowed per person is two medium sized suitcases which should not weigh more than 20kg and another one hand luggage. If you carry more than the desired limit, there is no guarantee that they will be able to handle your excess baggage.
LONDON BUS
Some of the London buses operate from the Heathrow central bus station & some from terminal 4. They are best suited for local transfers since for further journeys you will need to change one or more buses.
METROBUS
Another bus service called Metro bus operates the X26 bus service to West Croydon from 06.00 am to 10.00 pm. All the service remains the same except Christmas day.
GREENLINE
From Heathrow to Harlow Green Line bus service runs in conjunction with Arriva. The Green Line 724 operates on the route which runs from Heathrow out to Harlow.
As per the availability, this service runs from 06.20 till 22.05 during weekdays and from 09.20 to 21.20 on Sundays. You can expect the complete journey to take around 2.5 hours with the basic adult fare of £7.
Heathrow Free flow free fare zone
Certain bus routes serve Heathrow with a free service to some of the stops as the service is only available for the stops within the free fare zone.
